SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 6, 2013) - Now in its 8th year, DatacenterDynamics Converged San Francisco has become the largest event for the Data Center industry on the West Coast. Speakers will include David Gauthier from Microsoft, Thomas Furlong from Facebook and Jonathon G. Koomey, Ph.D., Stanford University.
At the start of this year, California became the first state to put a price on carbon emissions. The Cap-and-Trade program, part of California's Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32), forms a core part of that state's ambitious energy policy targets. As large energy consumers, how will this affect data center operators?
What efficiencies can be put in place to take the new tax into account internally or should more focus lie on the utility grid?
The biggest question of course is how will this impact data center investment? What will the continued trend toward virtualization and consolidation mean in this context? And will the future hold any place for the 'non-green' data center?
Brian T. Turner, Assistant Executive Officer from The California Air Resources Board, will be presenting at Converged San Francisco "Putting a Price on Carbon - California's Cap-and-Trade Plan Explained" with the purpose of putting to bed some of those pressing questions.
With over 1000 data center professionals in attendance on the 12th July at the Marriott Marquis, there will be over 30 sessions discussing the latest on the rise of the Software-defined Data Center (SDDC) as well as the ever growing topic of Virtualization to name a few.
