The Canon EOS M3 features a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, 6.2MP more than the M and M2, and the sensor combines with the DIGIC 6 image processor for faster overall speed, a sensitivity range that can be expanded to ISO 25600, full HD 1080p video recording, and burst shooting up to 4.2 fps.

The Hybrid CMOS AF III system in the M3 enables up to 6.1x faster AF than the M, and uses on-chip phase detection with 49 AF points. Focus peaking and 5x and 10x magnification allow for simple and accurate manual focusing, as well.
The overall body design of the Canon M3 has been improved by adding a more ergonomically friendly grip, control dials, and a 3.0" 1.0m-dot touchscreen LCD that can tilt 45° down or 180° up, making it simple to compose and shoot selfies or take low-angle shots. A hot shoe is located on the camera, in addition to the pop-up flash, and built-in Wi-Fi with NFC makes it easy to share your images.
