(KRON) — California Forever, a group behind a proposed utopian community in Solano County, has released a list of potential employers committed to bringing jobs to the proposed new city north of Silicon Valley and San Francisco. The company says it can secure over 15,000 “well-paid jobs” within the next decade.
In addition to proposing to build the largest solar farm in California, California Forever, otherwise known as the East Solano Plan, has employers ranging from construction companies to AI-powered delivery robots.
“At a time when research shows more than 40% of Solano workers commute out of the county to get to work, the news that these employers have committed to the East Solano Plan is significant,” California Forever said in a statement.

East Solano Plan said these businesses were drawn to Solano County “because of the qualities that already make it special” and the ability to plan their growth according to California Forever’s 40-year plan.
Though they are still a few years away from breaking ground, California Forever said some of the companies have already started negotiating terms for acquiring space to operate in the new community. Most will start breaking ground if the ballot measure for the proposed city passes in this year’s November ballot.
SOLAR FARM
Committed third-party employers aside, the East Solano Plan includes approvals for building the largest solar farm in California, combined with a regional storage battery.
The solar farm would have a capacity of 2 gigawatts, enough to power approximately 1.5 million homes, California Forever said. In addition, the battery storage facility would be located on properties “far away from existing communities,” claiming the location would solve some of the challenges Solano cities have previously faced when trying to site such a facility.
