Jul. 25—BLUFFTON — Bluffton Lantern Nutrition is now open at 142 E. Jefferson St. in Bluffton.
On Saturday, the business hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The business actually opened on June 7 and is part of a trend we're seeing in previous months as two of these kinds of businesses opened in Lima.
The owners are Jennifer and Jeff Putman.
"I found the nutrition club in Findlay two years ago and I fell in love with the product and just the people that ran it and the community and the support that they offer and just decided that was our end goal," Jennifer said.
Jennifer was the former manager of Family Video and Jeff worked in a factory and was laid off when COVID hit last year.
"I went to work in the club in Findlay and just found out how much I loved it and anybody can do this business," Jeff said.
Bluffton Lantern Nutrition offers healthy meal replacement smoothies, fruity energy teas and protein bars.
"Our shakes are 200 calories, 24 grams of protein, 10 grams of sugar, 18 carbs, 21 essential vitamins and a full serving of vegetables," Jeff said.
They offer unique flavors.
"The chocolate-peanut butter, the Buckeye is really good, if you're thinking like fruity, the Fruity Pebbles is awesome and my favorite tea would be the fruit roll-up," Jeff said.
"I love the watermelon-pomegranate crush tea and the brownie batter or turtle cheesecake shake," Jennifer said.
Jennifer is a 2015 graduate of Bluffton University.
"When I was there I just completely fell in love with the community so our end goal has always been to get to Bluffton and eventually move here so I'm excited to get more involved with different events and eventually make it our home," Jennifer said.
Bluffton Lantern Nutrition is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
