PITTSBURG, Kan. — Business owners have some critically important decisions to make in the coming year.
Today, those business owners receive information that could help them with those choices.
When you make a product that is sold worldwide, there are decisions to be made in the coming year.
This is why Todd Allison, whose company manufactures mobile concert stages, came to the annual Pittsburg Economic Outlook Conference held on the campus of P.S.U.
“Well the biggest thing is for planning on future expansion, or employment outlook, or worries about supply chain, it’s good to have a heads up so we can plan for those kinds of roadblocks and find paths forward,” said Todd Allison, Progressive Products Inc.
One of the challenges facing businesses in Pittsburg last year was the lack of housing.
Blake Benson, president of the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, says that is a hurdle they still need to get over.

“Still plenty of demand because so many people drive into Pittsburg to work during the day and we know that if they had the opportunity to live in Pittsburg and had a home that they would choose that so really commend the city for their proactive leadership in looking for more housing opportunities but the demand is definitely still there,” said Blake Benson, president, Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks to 360 million dollars worth of projects either under construction or in the works, the outlook is very bright heading into the new year.
“Think about all the construction people we need, all the electricians, all the technicians, the drywall people, it’s going to be a good time for the local economy,” said Dr. Michael Davidsson, P.S.U. economics professor.
Among those projects is moving the Kelce School of Business downtown, the construction of the KBI lab, a new wastewater plant, at least one major expansion project out by the airport, as well as the future hospital.
