SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - February 28, 2014) - Brandeis Hillel Day School (BHDS) announced today that Dr. Peg Sandel has been appointed Head of Campus for the Brandeis Hillel Day School - Marin campus. Dr. Sandel is currently the Dean of Jewish Studies and Hebrew at Jewish Community High School of the Bay (JCHS), and will assume her new position on July 1, 2014.

Dr. Sandel will have an integral role at BHDS Marin as it becomes an independent school at the start of the 2015/16 academic year, at which time she will assume the position of Head of School. "As a consummate independent school professional, we are confident that this transition will be well stewarded under Dr. Sandel's vision and strong leadership abilities," explained Lily Kanter, who represented Marin parents and community in the interview process.
The incoming Head of Campus brings nearly two decades of service to the Bay Area Jewish community. She has taught adult education classes at venues around the Bay Area, including Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley, and was a Lecturer in Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University. Dr. Sandel received her Ph.D. degree in Jewish Studies from the University of California, Berkeley/Graduate Theological Union, her M.A. degree in Jewish Studies from the Graduate Theological Union, and her B.A. degree in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
