Fast facts

  • The new owners of the world’s most expensive Champagne are brothers Giovanni and Piero Buono, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Tuesday.

  • The Champagne bottle came with complimentary transfers of the NFTs, those of which are stamped on the bottle.

  • “I don’t plan to drink it. I think it will be a good investment,” one of the brothers reportedly said.

  • The brothers argued that the record-breaking booze and NFT investment is a safe store of value.

  • The bottle is currently priced 2,500 ETH at NFT marketplace OpenSea, but due recent volatilities observed in the cryptocurrency market, the transaction was carried out in U.S. dollars, according to the WSJ.
