JACKSON – Kirk Lewis, president of Blue Springs Metals LLC in Blue Springs, was recently named the Mississippi Manufacturers Association’s Chairman of the Board for 2024-2025. He is the first African American to hold this position at MMA.
“I am honored to take on the role of chairman for such a prestigious organization,” said Lewis. “Manufacturing plays a critical role in the economic vitality of Mississippi, and I am committed to working alongside the talented members of the MMA to further our goals of innovation, job creation, and industry advancement."
Lewis was honored with a reception Friday at Park Hill Dynasty event center. It was hosted by OurMississippi and its founder, Wesley Wells.
Lewis is a former deputy mayor and chief of staff for the City of Detroit and has over 30 years of executive and financial management experience. He replaces Lex Lemmers, the director of program management and resident engineering for PACCAR Engine Co. in Columbus, as MMA chairman.
Blue Springs Metals LLC is a full-service steel processing service center which specializes in slitting, blanking and warehousing. The company's product range includes flat-rolled steel, hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, exposed and coated steel products, and oil country tubular goods.
“Kirk’s business experience and leadership abilities make him an ideal fit for the role of chairman,” said MMA president and CEO John McKay. “I look forward to Kirk leading our Board for the next year as we work together with our partners to help elevate the manufacturing industry in our state.”
