Braving the Black Friday crowds this year? Then these are the tech deals to get.
Black Friday is right around the corner and that means you’re looking forward to one of two things when the big day comes: Floating in and out of consciousness from eating too much of grandma’s famous sweet potatoes, or sitting in a beach chair outside of your favorite big box retailer wrapped in a Snuggie that’s three years past its expiration date.
For everyone in the first category, I salute your willingness to bulldoze through any sense of good taste or self control in the name of gorging yourselves on enough carbs to feed a small nation.
If you’re in the second group, though, you’re going to need to know which of the big box stores you should camp out in front of. And to help make that decision a little easier, I’ve put together this list of the best Black Friday tech deals at Walmart (WMT), Best Buy (BBY), Target (TGT) and Kohl’s.
Strap in.
Walmart
You might do a lot of your holiday shopping on Amazon (AMZN), but Walmart is still the king of retail. And to prove its mettle this year, the company is offering sweet savings on items ranging from smartphones to gaming consoles and everything in between.
If you’re hoping to get one of your loved ones a new handset this year, Walmart is offering Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 6 with 32GB of storage for $129 down from $199 with Straight Talk Wireless. Sure, the 6 isn’t the newest iPhone — it’s three generations old — but it’s a solid device for consumers who want a smartphone and don’t care to drop $1,000 on the iPhone X.
Walmart is also offering Google’s (GOOG, GOOGL) Home Mini smart speaker for $29, $20 off its regular price. The retailer says you’ll also get $25 off any Walmart order through Google Express, Google’s delivery service.
Want a sweet new TV this year? Walmart is selling a 58-inch Samsung 4K HDR television that’s usually $797 for $598. That’s a solid price for a big-screen TV built for 4K and HDR content, which is becoming more common for things like streaming services and gaming.
Kohl’s
When I think of Kohl’s I usually think of affordable clothes. But the retailer also has a solid selection of tech items, especially on Black Friday. Got a gamer in your life you want to hear shriek with joy? Kohl’s has Microsoft’s Xbox One S — not to be confused with the One X — with a 500GB hard drive for $189. That’s down from $250. If your loved one is more of a Sony (SNE) fan, you can snag the PS4 with a 1TB hard drive for $199, a $100 savings.
And if you’re shopping for more than one gamer, you can get both Xbox and PS4 controllers for $39 each.
