Packaging solutions provider Berry Global has provided customised plastic packaging for cleaning product manufacturer Vamoosh's Plug Hole Unblocker.

The packaging solution, which is a result of research and testing, addresses the challenges posed by the product's ingredients.

Berry said traditional polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) materials were found to be inadequate for the unblocker's specialist chemicals.

Berry therefore opted to enhance its 600ml Alpha bottle with an environmental stress crack-resistant additive and increase the bottle's thickness.

After testing various weights, a 52g bottle was chosen for its optimal strength.

Cares Laboratory (inventor of Vamoosh) director Dave Toms said: “Our collaboration with Berry Global has been pivotal in developing a packaging solution that meets our performance criteria.

“Berry’s swift turnaround and comprehensive service capabilities allowed us to bring our product to market quickly and efficiently.”

The project included rapid 3D-rendered graphics and branding to visualise the final design, and trials with bottles of three different weights before finalising the tooling template, aiding Vamoosh in making a cost-effective choice.

Berry sales and marketing director Joe Horton said: “We were committed to delivering a fit-for-purpose pack and fast-to-market launch for Vamoosh.

“The result is a packaging solution that not only meets the company’s stringent requirements but also showcases how our global network and technical and design capabilities help us to achieve seamless integration and high-quality results.”

The bottle's neck has been modified to accommodate a standard child-resistant closure cap, complying with regulatory standards.

The solution was produced at Berry's Beccles facility, with the cap from its Norwich factory in England.

Earlier this month, the company expanded its partnership with Mars, a snacks and sweets producer, by launching 100% recycled plastic pantry jars for brands such as M&M’S, Skittles, and Starburst.
