Ben Bernanke is taking up blogging. The Former Federal Reserve chair is launching a blog on the Brookings Institution website, where he plans to write about economics and finance.
Bernanke’s first blog explains why are interest rates are so low not only in the U.S., but the rest of the world as well.
Yahoo Finance’s Aaron Task thinks everybody who wants to understand monetary policy should read Bernanke’s blog.
“Ben Bernanke before he was a Fed chairman he was a professor at Princeton …and it’s an academic way of explaining what the Fed is doing. And he brings up this Swedish economist named Knut Wicksell. Who I’m guessing most of our audience hadn’t heard of before this morning-- I hadn’t either. But you read about this, it’s the natural equilibrium for interest rates. He’s giving you insight into the mind of a central banker which is a very rare thing,” Task explains.

Bernanke served as Fed chairman from February 2006 until January 2014 and is now a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution.
“Now that I'm a civilian again, I can once more comment on economic and financial issues without my words being put under the microscope by Fed watchers," Bernanke said in a statement.
Task says this kind of insight from a former Fed chair is valuable because it opens the door into how the central bank is thinking.
