BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2015) - The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) announced today the launch of its newest global practice area, Principal Investors & Private Equity (PIPE).
Led by Tawfik Hammoud, a senior partner based in the company's Toronto office, the new practice area consolidates BCG's decades of experience in principal investing and private equity under a newly expanded global platform in order to more quickly bring the firm's expertise and insights to clients.
"Since the financial crisis, the world has seen a number of significant global financial developments -- multiple rounds of quantitative easing, a sustained decline in bond yields, a broadly defined equity and real assets bull market, and the blurring of boundaries between public and private markets," said Hammoud, who is also a member of BCG's Executive Committee.
PIPE will advise global investment firms on investment diligence, transformation of portfolio companies, organization, strategy, and how to enter into new asset classes and markets, among other areas. Its clients will include some of the world's largest private-equity investors, hedge funds, pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and real estate and infrastructure funds.
"BCG's ability to both help investors raise the bar for their internal capabilities and provide transformational support for their portfolio assets has shown a tremendous ability to generate alpha and enhanced returns for our PIPE clients," said Rich Lesser, President and CEO of BCG.
"Investors are now operating in an environment where a growing supply of capital is pursuing a limited set of assets in search of returns. This is causing them to increasingly take a more direct and active approach to identifying and managing their investments through the cycle in an attempt to generate excess returns," Hammoud added. "Through our depth of expertise across industries, our PIPE Practice Area is well-suited to help clients uncover opportunities and unlock value."
PIPE joins BCG's wide breadth of industry practice areas, including Consumer Goods, Industrial Goods, Financial Services & Insurance, Technology, Media and Telecom, Health Care, and Energy. For a full list of BCG's practice areas, visit www.bcg.com.
