BCG Collaborates With TED to Explore Game-Changing Ways to Transform Business and Society in the Firm's Fiftieth Year

SINGAPORE--(Marketwired - Oct 10, 2013) - As part of its fiftieth anniversary celebration, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), one of the world's leading management consulting firms, has partnered with TED, the influential nonprofit dedicated to "Ideas Worth Spreading." Together, BCG and TED are hosting TED@BCG, a series of TED-style talks during which global leaders and experts explore breakthrough ideas to drive positive, effective transformation of business and society in an age of accelerating change.

The first TED@BCG event, titled "The Shape of Change," was held today at the School of the Arts in Singapore and featured notable speakers such as Janmejaya K. Sinha, chairman of the Asia-Pacific region at BCG; Harish Manwani, chief operating officer at Unilever; Charles Robertson, global chief economist and head of macro-strategy at Renaissance Capital; and Tan Su Shan, managing director and group head of consumer banking and wealth management at DBS.

During the event, speakers shared their visions of how companies and organizations can best embrace and take advantage of the complexities and challenges of the economic and business environment in Asia. The first session was dedicated to talks on exploring the seismic shifts taking place in Asia, including in-depth looks at Japan's resilience and recovery, the rise of the Chinese middle class, and the secret of South Korean conglomerates' success. The second session took a wider look at the changes in the Asian landscape and featured talks that provided fresh perspectives on these changes. Notably, the speakers shared ideas on how to sustain Asia's progress and recommended holistic approaches to navigate the future.

The program also included a series of roundtable discussions with business and government leaders that were hosted by BCG experts. These focused on a wide range of topics, including twenty-first century leadership, thriving in a world of discontinuities, learning from the world's most innovative companies, and transforming go-to-market strategies in emerging markets.

"In every country, there are curious souls who are excited by the power of ideas and of making things happen. They want to learn, grow, and be a part of shaping the future for generations to come. BCG is proud to partner with TED and jointly curate ideas through today's series of talks, giving leaders a platform from which to take these ideas and inspire minds, embrace change, and ultimately shape a better world," said BCG's Janmejaya K. Sinha.

A second TED@BCG will take place on October 30 in San Francisco and will focus on the topic of "Reinventing the Rules." Content from these talks will be available on BCG's and TED's YouTube channels and will be supported by a digital campaign on TED.com and TED mobile platforms.
