Batesville Improvement Grant recipients named

May 5—BATESVILLE — Batesville Economic Development Director Sarah Lamping, in conjunction with Mayor John Irrgang and the Economic Development Committee (EDC) have announced that they have awarded the most recent round of Batesville Improvement Grants (BIG).

This program supports local businesses by providing funds to help offset the cost associated with making exterior improvements to their building. It's a matching grant program in which tenants and property owners can receive dollar-for-dollar matching funds up to $5,000 to finance direct costs associated with approved renovation activities.

The Batesville Improvement Grant program launched in the fall of 2018, and since that time the EDC has provided funding to more than 35 small businesses to help with façade improvements.

In these past six years, the program has awarded over $160,000 in support of small businesses.

"This is a vital re-investment and has a direct positive impact in our community," Lamping said. "Small businesses in our community work hard to support our local economy, and the BIG program is here to help them tackle the exterior projects that they need and want to complete."

The 2024 grant recipients are:

The Bookshelf

Hillcrest Golf & Country Club

Dunlap Supply

John Kellerman (office and retail locations)

The next opportunity to apply for the Batesville Improvement Grant will be in the spring of 2025.
