Today, Assurant announced the appointment of Felipe Sanchez as its new president, Europe, subject to receipt of regulatory approval. Sanchez will have responsibility for Assurant’s European strategy to deliver growth in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom (UK). He brings exceptional leadership, global vision, and proven expertise in driving innovation and business development to this new role.
Sanchez, who joined the company as president, Assurant Mexico, led impressive results in Global Auto and Connected Living, driving growth in Latin America. With more than 30 years of experience in executive leadership, business and marketing management, and strategic planning, he has built high-performing teams across the Caribbean, Central America, and the United States. Sanchez will report to Federico Bunge, president, International.
Sanchez succeeds Christian Formby, who after five years as European president, has been appointed president, Specialty Solutions, Global Housing, which includes Manufactured Housing, Condominium and other related product lines. Christian’s success managing Assurant’s European business and Global Housing experience will be essential to driving Property Solutions business growth. Christian will report to Mike Campbell, president, Global Housing.
As the appointment of Sanchez is subject to receipt of regulatory approval from the UK Financial Services Regulators, during this transitional period, Formby will retain regulatory responsibility.
After six years as president of Assurant in Argentina, Diego Gomez will be appointed president of Assurant Mexico. Gomez led Assurant Argentina as CEO, and he brought vision and strategic leadership to the company. Under Gomez’s leadership, Assurant Argentina opened the first Global Capabilities Center (GCC) in Buenos Aires, which has brought new jobs, opportunities, and career advancement for our employees. Gomez has 20 years of experience at Assurant in insurance and related services, leading teams in Latin America and Europe. Before being appointed country manager for Argentina, Gomez developed an impressive career including roles as LatAm COO and Chief Risk Officer, European COO and actuarial manager in Argentina. Gomez will continue to report into Ricardo Fiuza, president, Latin America.
