AM is in the process of upgrading the 10-acre complex consisting of two buildings. The company said it plans to rapidly build out its Mexico operations over the next six months.
“Our investment means we can immediately begin upgrading the denim factory in Mexico on an expedited timeline and can soon offer even more services to retailers and brands looking to manufacture closer to the United States,” AM stated.
The acquisition is the latest in Artistic Milliners’ strategic expansion of its nearshoring operations.
In 2020, AM opened SFI-Los Angeles, a design center and denim laundry. The company has since forged strategic partnerships with sourcing facilities in Guatemala, Mexico and the U.S. It recently opened a SFI office in Guatemala City led by Alejandro Arias, SFI’s vice president sourcing, Central America.
The nearshoring network offers clients sustainable materials, dyes and inputs, access to a transparent and traceable supply chain and certification by all international third-party monitoring systems. It also provides manufacturers and brands opportunities to reduce costs by importing products under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the Dominican Republic-Central America FTA (CAFTA-DR) trade agreements.
