Argentina President-elect Milei: no half measures to solve economic crisis

BUENOS AIRES, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Argentina's President-elect Javier Milei said there was no room for half measures to deal with the country's economic crisis during his first speech after winning a run-off election on Sunday, where the libertarian outsider struck a moderate tone.

"Argentina's situation is critical," Milei, who has risen abruptly on the back of voter anger at triple digit inflation and rising poverty, told supporters at his campaign headquarters in Buenos Aires. "There's no room for tepid half measures."

Milei added that the country's "reconstruction starts today" and that all were welcome to join the new Argentina, also thanking mainstream conservatives Patricia Bullrich and Mauricio Macri who had backed him after losing out in the first round.
