AREA earns national, statewide honors
Oct. 18—An organization that advocates for economic development in Albuquerque recently earned multiple recognitions.
The International Economic Development Council recognized the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance with two Excellence in Economic Development last month. AREA earned a Bronze Award in the Economic Development Organization of the Year category for organizations that serve a population of 500,000 or bigger.
The council also recognized AREA with a Bronze Award in the Multimedia Promotion category for a program AREA created with CRBE.
"Albuquerque is seeing so much success as we see interest in the region not only nationwide but globally," said Don Tarry, AREA Board Chair and the president and CEO of Public Service Company of New Mexico. "These honors illustrate what we already know, AREA, working closely with state and local government economic development groups, is leading the way for the region's economic development success."
AREA also was recently recognized for its work promoting the community and for helping Array Technologies launch a large expansion project in Albuquerque.
"This level of recognition, which is bestowed by a large panel of economic development professionals who judge and score submissions, is something that we are humbled to receive and that reflects the hard work of the entire AREA staff team and its board of directors and amazing community partners," AREA President and CEO Danielle Casey said in a statement.
