Jun. 8—Two Lackawanna County businesses announced they will close their doors this summer.
Peculiar Kitchen posted on its social media accounts Thursday it will close its brick-and-mortar eatery at 307 Penn Ave., Scranton, at the end of the month.
Peculiar Slurp, owned by Gene and Miranda Philbin, opened its doors on May 16, 2018, then rebranded to Peculiar Kitchen in May 2021. The establishment will be open Tuesdays through Fridays through June 30, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for an incredible five years in Scranton," the owners wrote in Thursday's post.
Burning Bush Cafe, 64 N. Main St., Carbondale, also announced it's shutting its doors this July.
Opened under owner Cliff Krajkovich, the building was remodeled from a car wash into a coffee shop and drive-thru. The building is under contract to be sold and the new owners will be taking it in a new direction, according to a Facebook post.
Burning Bush will remain open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Thursday, July 6. Gift card holders are asked to redeem them before the closing date.
