Apple is working on a software update to prevent its recently released iPhone 15 from overheating, the company said Saturday.
Shortly after the tech giant released its latest iPhone earlier this month, owners of its more expensive models — the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max — took to social media to express their frustration with the device, which according to one comment could reach “up to 48 degrees [Celsius]” — or a scorching 118.5 Fahrenheit.
On Monday, a reporter for the Apple news site 9to5Mac echoed the sentiment of several owners of the device, writing that his iPhone 15 Pro Max was “almost too hot to touch.”
Apple acknowledged the problem on Saturday, saying the company is working on an update to its latest operating system, iOS17, to prevent the issue from happening again.
The company also said it’s currently working with certain apps, including Uber, Instagram and the video game Asphalt 9, which are running in ways that are “causing them to overload the system.”
Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily News on Saturday afternoon, but in a statement sent to The Associated Press, the company said it had “identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.”
It’s unclear when the software update expected to fix the issue will be released.
