Animoca says crypto winter ‘a great time’ for venture capitalists

  • In a sit-down interview with Forkast at the IVS Crypto 2022 event held in downtown Naha, Okinawa, Kanai said investments made in the Sandbox, Dapper Labs, OpenSea and Sky Mavis during the previous crypto winter had done well.

  • Animoca has invested in up-and-coming non-fungible token (NFT), metaverse and Web 3.0 projects, funding over US$1.5 billion across over 340 investments as of April 30 this year.

  • In February, Animoca launched a strategic subsidiary in Japan with a US$10 million seed round to bridge the country’s intellectual property (IP) with Web 3.0.

  • Animoca is currently focusing investment opportunities in blockchain-based education platforms. Last month, Animoca acquired TinyTap, a platform for user-generated educational content.
