American Airlines (AAMRQ) and US Airways (LCC) lawyers spelled out the arguments they would use to defend their proposed merger, after the Justice Department sued to block the deal, reports the Wall Street Journal. The lawyers say that the Justice Department's suit ignored several benefits the merger would offer consumers, including more flights to more destinations. The deal would reduce the airlines' costs and allow them to offer lower prices and better service, they said. Also, that it would be good for the airlines' employees and creditors.
