Amazon expands footprint at Nashville Yards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Amazon is expanding its footprint in downtown Nashville.

On Wednesday, Southwest Value Partners announced that the company would both begin work in its second tower and lease an entire floor in the creative office building at the center of Nashville Yards, a 19-acre property with a variety of shops and retail. The tower will be near the already-built first tower at 201 Platform Way, which employs about 2,500 people.

“From the beginning we envisioned Nashville Yards as a vibrant, state-of-the-art, healthy living urban community where tech, finance, entertainment and creative classes intersect,” said Cary Mack, managing partner of Southwest Value Partners. “Amazon has played an important role in realizing our vision at Nashville Yards, and we are very pleased to continue to grow our longstanding relationship with them.”

The company will be situated near The Pinnacle, which is a recently-unveiled music venue within Nashville Yards. Ocean Prime, Fogo de Chão, Earls, Sweet Paris, Culaccino, Iconix Fitness and Hooky Entertainment are just a few of the other restaurants and amenities near Amazon. Jacon Kupin, Metro Councilmember for District 19 — where Nashville Yards sits — said he was excited about Amazon’s announcement.

“[The] Pinnacle is already having shows. They have a lawn outside The Pinnacle with events — a number of the office buildings there have started having their ribbon-cuttings and openings, so you’re already going to see it,” Kupin told News 2. “There are multiple phases coming online, but it’s a great place to check out.

“When we originally selected the Yards as our Nashville home, we were confident the site would meet the needs of our team members and be a fantastic attraction for the community and visitors alike to experience,” said Holly Sullivan, vice president of worldwide economic development, Amazon. “We’re grateful for the partnership of Southwest Value Partners, and we’re excited to play a role in the development and growth taking place in Nashville.”

Targeted occupancy for the next space is next year.

“Amazon is a known name throughout the country and world, and to have them to see the value of downtown Nashville is huge and hopefully shows other companies how great it is to be here,” Kupin added.
