Altran closes the acquisitions
of SWELL and BENTELER Engineering

Altran has announced today the closing of the acquisitions of the companies SWELL (Czech Republic) and BENTELER Engineering (Germany), both specialists of engineering services for the German automotive industry. These acquisitions were closed in November and December 2016 respectively, in a tight schedule since their announcement in October.

These strategic acquisitions are fully aligned with the turnaround plan of the Group in Germany, a priority market of Altran 2020. Ignition plan:

  • Altran invests to grow in Germany with the acquisitions of SWELL and BENTELER Engineering as additional steps to its turnaround plan, reinforcing the Group`s local operations and support functions, and consolidating the rebuilding of its capacity and capabilities in the country.

  • SWELL and BENTELER Engineering bring a significant increase in Altran`s presence and market share in Germany with key complementary expertise and know-how.

These transactions also allow Altran to reinforce its market position in automotive, the largest industry for the Group:

  • BENTELER Engineering increases Altran`s revenues generated with major European OEMs, complementing the Group`s client portfolio and expanding its service offer for shared clients.

  • SWELL`s integrated engineering, development, testing and prototyping capabilities will enable Altran`s « Complete Vehicle » automotive positioning.

  • Lastly, SWELL offers potential to become a new nearshore center part of Altran`s Industrialized GlobalShore© network.

In a highly competitive German automotive market, these two acquisitions are major strategic and operational accelerators for Altran in Europe, and will allow the Group to continue to serve its existing clients and partners with new ones.
