OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb 11, 2014) - Today, the Agricultural Institute of Canada (AIC) welcomed the release of the 2014 federal budget.
"We applaud the federal government's proposed $1.5 billion for the Canada First Research Excellence Fund to help Canada's post-secondary institutions become global leaders in research and innovation," said Daniel Kosick, Director of Communications for AIC. "We look forward to working with federal officials to help ensure that agricultural research is a focal point for this investment and the added $15 million annual investment in the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council."
Agricultural research (including food production, safety and security) is a focal point for governments around the world. AIC has, since its inception almost a century ago, been an advocate of agricultural research and a proponent of the development of a strong, national agricultural research policy.
