Today's agenda brings several important data points.
ADP's private-sector payrolls report at 8:15 a.m. ET is expected to show that 225,000 jobs were added last month, up from 212,000 in February.
The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index for March and construction spending for February follow at 10 a.m. ET. Economists see ISM edging down to 52.5 from 52.9 the previous month. Construction spending is forecast to shrink 0.3 percent, compared with a 1.1 percent drop in January.
Weekly mortgage applications at 7 a.m. ET could affect sentiment as investors look for improvement in the housing sector. Auto sales are also due in the morning and crude-oil inventories will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET.
Monsanto reports earnings before the opening bell and Micron Technology follows in the afternoon.
Tomorrow morning brings initial jobless claims, factory orders, natural-gas inventories, and earnings from CarMax.
Markets are closed the last day of the week for Good Friday, although the Labor Department is still scheduled to release its key monthly non-farm payrolls report.
