9 Marvelous Freebies You Can Grab in March

In like a lion, out like the lamb: That’s the promise of March. Many of us are counting down the days to spring after a long, cold winter.

Fortunately, we’ve got a bevy of freebies you can enjoy in the warmer, sunnier days ahead. They range from free workouts to a couple of hockey-themed freebies.

Following are nine marvelous March freebies.

Free BOGO food at Chipotle — March 2

The weekend of March 2-4 is Hockey Weekend Across America. To celebrate, Chipotle will drop the puck on a great deal: On March 2, stop by Chipotle between 10:45 a.m. and 10 p.m. and you can get a “buy one, get one free” burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos. The catch? You must wear your favorite team’s hockey jersey to the restaurant.

Free workouts at 24 Hour Fitness — throughout March

If you are a member of 24 Hour Fitness and have a friend itching to try the gym — or if you simply want to ask a buddy to tag along and motivate you during exercise — March is the month for you. During March, 24 Hour Fitness will host Free Guest Fridays. Anyone who is at least 18 years old — or 12 years old accompanied by a parent — can visit a location for free on Fridays.

Free pretzel at Auntie Anne’s — March 3

Auntie Anne’s will host a Free Pretzel Party on March 3. Go to the website now, RSVP “Yes!” and you’ll score a free pretzel .

The freebie is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at participating locations, and it entitles you to one free Original or Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel.

Free tax help — ongoing

The federal tax deadline — this year, April 17 — creeps ever closer. Fortunately, you might be able to get free help with your return.

The IRS Free File program is available to taxpayers who qualify for no-cost help in preparing and filing their tax returns. The IRS partners with the Free File Alliance in offering this assistance.

Taxpayers with incomes below $66,000 qualify for Free File software, including some free state return help. If your income is above $66,000, you qualify for free fillable forms. Although these forms help you do the math, you must know how to do your own taxes, and state forms are not available.

You can also go to the AARP website and find free tax help though the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program.

On March 3, during Hockey Weekend Across America, USA Hockey and 400 local associations across the country will host “Try Hockey for Free Day!” Kids ages 4 to 9 can hit the ice and take their shot at the world’s favorite winter game.
