7-Eleven(R) Expands Its Support of the Canadian Red Cross Campaign for Fort Mac Fire Victims

VANCOUVER, BC --(Marketwired - May 10, 2016) - In response to the raging fire and in support of the Fort McMurray relief effort, 7-Eleven® has made a direct cash donation of $15,000 and pledged to match coin box donations to the Canadian Red Cross in Canadian 7-Eleven stores to a maximum of $35,000.

The same coin box donations made by individual Canadians are also eligible for matching funds by the Government of Canada. And for donations in Alberta 7-Eleven stores, funds are matched by the Government of Alberta. As a result, for every dollar donated in Alberta 7-Elevens between May 3 and May 31, 2016, the Canadian Red Cross will receive a total of four dollars.

Last week 7-Eleven instituted an in-store canister fundraising campaign in each of its 505 Canadian outlets, with all donations going to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal.

"Our hearts go out to the tens of thousands of people affected by this devastating fire," says Raj Kapoor, Vice President and General Manager, 7-Eleven Canada. "We have stores, customers and employees in the Fort McMurray area, and this brings it very close to home."

"We are grateful for 7-Eleven's support of the Red Cross disaster relief efforts," says Ronan Ryan, Chief Development Office, and Canadian Red Cross. "We thank 7-Eleven's operations for their generosity and unwavering support."

"The canisters in our stores provide an easy and accessible way to donate," says 7-Eleven's Raj Kapoor. "And customer donations and spare change will be maximized like never before due to the various donation matching programs available this month."
