2024 Was the Hottest Year. Here Are Climate Trends to Watch in 2025
Last year was the hottest on record and, by most measures, the first to exceed the threshold set by the Paris Agreement to limit the worst effects of climate change, according to five international climate organizations. The average global temperature was 1.47 to 1.62 degrees Celsius (2.65 to 2.92 degrees Fahrenheit) hotter than pre-industrial levels. More than 190 countries, including the U.S., which signed the 2015 Paris Agreement, agreed to try to stay below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
