The Dow was down 760 points, or 1.8%, in early afternoon trading. The Nasdaq Composite, which was up earlier in the afternoon, was down 1%. A weak auction of 20-year Treasury notes sent yields spiking shortly after 1 p.m. ET, sending stocks falling in response.
