S&P 500 Notches First Record Close of the Year
The S&P 500 hit its first closing high for 2025 as prospects for earnings growth remain healthy and remarks from President Trump earlier in the day sparked some optimism. The S&P 500 closed 0.5% higher to 6,118.72, setting a record for the first time since Dec. 6. Consensus supports 18% earnings per share growth so far for Mag 7 companies compared to 9% for the median S&P 500 company in 2025, wrote Chris Senyek of Wolfe Research.
