Retail sales rose a lot less than expected in February—0.2% vs. a 0.7% consensus forecast among analysts tracked by FactSet. The change in January sales was also revised lower. It is worth noting that so-called control group retail sales, or sales excluding food, gas, and autos, increased 1% compared to expectations for a 0.4% gain.
