Recent U.S. tariffs are injecting a level of volatility into earnings season that Wall Street hasn’t seen in years. Traders are pricing in the sharpest stock swings for companies after their earnings since the first quarter of 2020, when the global pandemic shut down businesses around the world and triggered a market crash. Options traders were recently pricing in moves of around 8% for companies in the Russell 1000 index that had yet to report earnings, according to JPMorgan Chase data.
