CFPB Bans Medical Bills From Credit Reports

CFPB Bans Medical Bills From Credit Reports·The Wall Street Journal

Credit-reporting companies will be banned from including medical debt on credit reports, under a rule finalized by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The rule isn’t slated to go into effect until March, after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in. The bureau had proposed the ban in June, saying it would help prevent debt collectors from using inaccurate or false medical bills to coerce payments from consumers.
