Community bank opens in Bed-Stuy · WPIX New York City, NY

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn got a fiscal shot in the arm with a major financial institution moving in.

It’s part of a national push to help small businesses and communities thrive.

PIX11’s Monica Morales got an exclusive one-one-one with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon in the Queens neighborhood where he grew up in. Dimon says his grandparents were Greek immigrants who didn’t finish high school, so he says it’s important to go back and we went with him.

Dimon has invested $2 million in grants for small businesses in Queens.

Meanwhile, a new community branch opened Wednesday on Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy. Dimon hopes it will help a community historically underserved by financial institutions.

Community banks offer financial literacy and small business coaching. Dimon plans on opening up 100 community banks across the country.
