SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Aug 21, 2014) - Brighton College, a popular and reputable career college, held its annual Community Appreciation Barbeque event this past Saturday in partnership with Blackwood Partners and Central City mall. The event was a huge success, as proceeds from the barbeque sales were donated to the local charity, helping raise over $2,700 for the local Surrey Food Bank.

The event took place at Central City Mall, at the Outdoor Plaza on Saturday August 16^th, 2014 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The event was open to the public, and offered free activities such as a photo booth by Tap Snap, face painting, and a draw to win one of many prizes. Prizes were donated from local sponsors, and included a t-shirt, a pre-paid visa for $100, a gift basket valued at $300, PNE tickets, an iPad and a $5,000 scholarship to Brighton College.

Sonic 104.9FM and 99.3FM The Fox, two local radio stations, were on location and brought free give-a-ways and prizes for the public. Other sponsors who donated items include Barangay North Vancouver, Metro Media, Glacier Media and Black Press Publications.

Making its official debut at the event was the newly established Brighton College Student Association. The Student Association was on site volunteering at the event and handing out free Brighton College items such as sunglasses, bags, and shirts. Brighton College also officially launched its new Instagram account at the event instagram.com/brighton_college, and actively promoted its social media accounts on Facebook (facebook.com/brightoncollege) and Twitter (twitter.com/brightoncol) as well.
