Dakota Wealth Management senior portfolio manager Robert Pavlik talks with Wealth host Brad Smith to share his cautiously optimistic market outlook and top stock picks. Pavlik suggests that deregulation and corporate tax cuts under Trump are expected to boost earnings, while potentially inflationary policies, like tariffs and mass deportation, are a negotiating tactic and unlikely to happen, respectively. Despite the stock market's high performance this week, Pavlik still retains caution for the near-term future. "Inflation continues to be a bit of a concern," Pavlik says. "Bond yields at 4.60, [which] on a 10-year is still a little bit elevated. Valuations are a bit high ... about 10% higher than the 5-year average. There's questions about earnings growth." However, the portfolio manager also notes there is much to be optimistic about in the long term. "I think the first hundred days of the new administration's policies and what they bring to the table is going to create a little bit more nervousness in the market," he explains. "But I think that all sort of plays out as we go forward ... once we get to a more rational point of valuations that helps lift the overall market later on, people start to feel a little bit better about returning to stock purchases." Pavlik says his S&P 500 target represents 13% to 14% growth and names Lululemon (LULU), Cummins (CMI), and Quanta Services (PWR) as his top stock picks.
