2 things driving the market higher in 2025: Strategist
With Wall Street abuzz ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's second term in the White House, JPMorgan Asset Management global market strategist Meera Pandit sits down with Market Domination Co-Hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to discuss her market outlook for 2025: "Look, we have an embarrassment of riches in the S&P 500 (^GSPC) with the [Magnificent] Seven and with everything else. And what we have been seeing is that that Mag Seven dominance is gradually relinquishing, just ever so slightly. So last year, about 63% of the total returns of the S&P 500 were attributed to the Mag Seven. This year, it's about 51%, so far year to date." The strategist says there are two things going on in the market heading into 2025. "One is a broadening out in this earnings story. As we look to the back half of next year, we should see Mag Seven earnings decelerate to still a very impressive 20% growth rate, while the rest of the index is going to start to catch up and get to low double digits there. So you see a little bit of a broadening out there." "And then also when we think about some of the policy implications that could potentially come down the pike next year, whether it's deregulation, helping areas like financials and energy that could also help to bring in some of the more cyclical sectors into the story," she adds.
