Jul. 20—Geisinger Health Plan selected Wisconsin-based Navitus Health Solutions LLC to serve as its new pharmacy benefit manager, effective Jan. 1, the company announced Thursday.

Geisinger Health Plan serves more than 600,000 members throughout Pennsylvania. Navitus will support Medicare, Pennsylvania Medicaid, and commercial health plans to improve access to affordable and clinically appropriate medications.

Geisinger will continue managing the list of covered drugs, providing utilization management services and handling customer service responsibilities.

Navitus was founded in 2003 as an alternative to traditional pharmacy benefit manager models.

Navitus replaces PerformRX, a Philadelphia-based pharmacy benefit manager.
