Death of a CBSA Detainee

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 15, 2016) - Canada Border Services Agency

On May 15, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) was notified by Justice and Solicitor General of Alberta that an individual detained under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act at the Edmonton Remand Centre had passed away on May 14, 2016.

The name of the individual, a 24-year-old man, is personal information and as such is protected under the Privacy Act.

The CBSA will be reviewing the circumstances of the death. The CBSA is not in a position to release further information while the investigation is ongoing.
