Crocs giving away free footwear to health care workers fighting coronavirus crisis

Crocs launched a program to supply U.S. health care workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic with free footwear.

"A Free Pair for Healthcare" will allow doctors, nurses and other health care workers to choose a free pair of footwear between Crocs Classic Clogs and Crocs At Work styles. The free Crocs are available while supplies last.

The offer is available through the website www.crocs.com/freeforhealthcare.

"Over the past week, we have spoken to healthcare workers, their facilities and even their family and friends, and they have specifically asked for our shoes in an effort to provide ease on their feet, as well as ease of mind as they need the ability to easily clean up before they go home to their families," said Crocs president and CEO Andrew Rees in a statement.

Rees said the company is prepared to ship up to 10,000 pairs of Crocs a day to assist health care workers.

The footwear company says it also plans to donate up to 100,000 pairs of shoes to several healthcare facilities and organizations.

"These workers have our deepest respect, and we are humbled to be able to answer their call and provide whatever we can to help during this unprecedented time," said Rees.

Crocs is among several companies stepping up to assist frontline workers during the COVID-19 crisis. On Wednesday, Gap Inc. - owners of clothing chains including Gap and Old Navy - said it was redirecting factory partners to make personal protective equipment including masks for health care workers.

Meanwhile, automakers including Ford, General Motors and Tesla have deployed resources to address ventilator shortages.
