Calendar focuses on Fed's policies

The main even on today's economic calendar is the release of the Federal Open Market Committee's minutes from its last meeting.

Traders will be looking for clues on changes in the Federal Reserve's monetary policy when the report comes out at 2 p.m. ET. Coincidentally, Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to speak on the history of Federal Reserve policy to the NBER Summer Institute in Boston at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Wholesale trade figures for May will be announced at 10 a.m. ET. French and Italian industrial production data will also be released in the morning.

The calendar will be active tomorrow as retailers report same-store sales and the Labor Department announces initial jobless claims. Friday brings the producer-price index and consumer sentiment.
