European Stocks Mixed After Central Bank Rate Cuts
European stocks were having a so-so session on Friday as investors reacted to interest-rate cuts by central banks on the continent. The moves came after the European Central Bank stuck to the script by slashing interest rates by a quarter of a point, and the Swiss National Bank surprised markets with a half-point cut. The euro edged up 0.3% against the dollar after the ECB signaled that it's unlikely to lower borrowing costs by half a point at its next meeting in January.
